Get some cheap OTC (over the counter) allergy medication. You can get the store brand it is just as good as Benedryl and there are non-drowsy forms of OTC brands to. Anytime I have a cold this is what I take because the symptoms are the same and all a cold is anyway is YOUR body's reaction to the cold virus itself (so you are having an allergic reaction). There is no need to buy those expensive cold remedies. You may want some cough drops to soothe your scratchy throat.
