Has any ones child had Ankyloglossia or tongue tie?

My son is 7 mths old. We had a dr apt yesterday. The Dr. said that if we wanted to have his tongue "clipped" now we can. He said that they do better b/w 18 and 20 mth. to have it done. Has anyone had this done? If so what was the recovery time? I think we should go on and do it now. That way it will be all better by the time he really starts talking. Any info will help. Thanks.
